Katerina is a fourth-year Genetics Ph.D. graduate student. Originally from Hartsville,
South Carolina, she received a B.S. in Genetics with a minor in Microbiology from
Clemson University in 2014. At Clemson, she studied the evolution of glyphosate resistance
in Amaranthus palmeri populations. She also participated in plant genomics REU programs at Michigan State
University and Boyce Thompson Institute. Her project in the Takahashi Lab focuses
on the effect of macronutrient-responsive small signaling peptides on lateral root
development and root gravitropism in Arabidopsis thaliana.
